Dog grooming · Bishopston, Bristol

Groomed slowly, one dog at a time.

A considered cut, a calm room and no cages — inside our former launderette on Gloucester Road.

Good grooming is unhurried.

We work with one dog at a time, at their pace: a quieter salon, a familiar pair of hands and room to pause when a dog asks for one. From first puppy visits to older regulars, every appointment is shaped around the dog in front of us.

From first rinse to final fold.

A complete, coat-specific groom with careful finishing where it matters. Most grooms take two to three hours; a big doodle a little longer.

Wash for the coat

Two shampoos and a conditioner chosen for the coat in front of us — brightening for white coats, deshedding for double coats, extra gentle for puppies.

Dry without the rush

Towel first, then a quiet stand dryer by hand, with a groomer beside them the whole time. Never a heated drying cabinet.

Your kind of cut

A groomer's hands working a steel comb and round-tipped scissors through an apricot doodle's cheek

Teddy face, breed trim or shorter for summer — scissors, clippers or hand-stripping, whatever the coat asks for. Bring a photograph if you have one.

The close work

A groomer's hands trimming the fur around a small dog's paw pad with round-tipped scissors

Nails clipped and filed, paw pads trimmed for grip on wooden floors, ears cleaned and the corners of the eyes neatened with round-tipped scissors.

Ready for home

A final comb-through and a fresh bandana, then we text you a photograph to say they're ready.

Drop-off to collection

A day with us, in four calm steps.

Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30, Thursdays until 7. One groomer, one dog, from the first rinse to the ready photo.
  1. 01Come in at 8:30Drop off from 8:30. We confirm the cut, look at a reference photo if you brought one, and settle your dog with their groomer.
  2. 02Wash, dry, cutOne groomer stays with your dog through the wash, the hand-dry and the finish. Most grooms take two to three hours.
  3. 03A photographWhen the final comb is through, we text you a photograph to say they're ready.
  4. 04Home the same dayCollect whenever suits, the same day: a clean coat, filed nails and a fresh bandana.

Before we begin

Honest conversations make better groom days.

Three things we would rather say before a groom than after it.

When a coat is heavily knotted

We ring before starting. A shorter clip and a fresh start is usually the kindest route; de-matting is £10 per 15 minutes where it can be done kindly.

More time, less pressure

For a nervous or rescue dog, book a longer slot and tell us at drop-off what helps — a quiet table, breaks, a favourite toy.

Plans change

Give us 48 hours' notice and there is no charge. Later than that we may ask for half the groom price, because the table usually stays empty.
Small visits. Big difference.

Let the salon become somewhere familiar.

Three short visits introduce the sounds, surfaces and hands of a groom day without asking too much at once.
  1. 01Hello, tableThirty minutes: a sniff around, a sit on the table, the dryer switched on across the room and lots of praise. You stay for this one.
  2. 02Water, quietlyForty-five minutes: a shallow bath followed by a gentle, quiet blow-dry, with a break whenever they want one.
  3. 03The first tidyRound-tipped scissors for a small tidy of face, feet and bottom, plus the first nail clip.

From the other end of the lead

They notice the difference.

Biscuit used to hide under the table when he saw the lead for the groomer. Now he pulls me all the way down Gloucester Road to get there.
